MEETING OF THE DIRECTOR OF THE AGENCY WITH THE MINISTER OF JUSTICE

14.03.2023.

Director of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption Dejan Damnjanovic met today with the Minister of Justice in the Government of the Republic of Serbia Маја Popovic. They discussed previous and future cooperation in the area of corruption prevention. The Agency and the Ministry of Justice are holders of numerous activities from the Revised Action Plan for Chapter 23 -Subchapter Fight Against Corruption, while the Agency also has a supervisory role in the implementation of this strategic document. To achieve a higher degree of accomplishment in the implementation of defined activities it was spoken about findings and recommendations that the Agency stated in previous reports on the implementation of the Revised Action Plan.

MEETING OF THE DIRECTOR OF THE AGENCY AND SPEAKER OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA

13.03.2023.

Director of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption Dejan Damnjanovic met today with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Dr Vladimir Orlic to discuss the improvement of cooperation between these two institutions. During the discussion on future mutual activities in the area of corruption prevention, a commitment to its intensification was expressed.  Speaker Orlic said that he and the National Assembly will fully support the future work of the Agency. It was agreed to organize workshops with the competent committees in the following period, as well as training on ethics and integrity according to the Law on Prevention of Corruption. This would contribute to the implementation of the activities from the Revised Action Plan for Chapter 23- Subchapter Fight Against Corruption, as well as strengthening the capacities of the Members of Parliament.

MEETING OF THE DIRECTOR OF THE AGENCY WITH THE DIRECTOR OF THE CENTRAL REGISTRY OF COMPULSORY SOCIAL INSURANCE

Continuing cooperation with all relevant institutions in the fight against corruption, the Agency for Prevention of Corruption and the Central Registry of Compulsory Social Insurance specified the technical details necessary for electronic data exchange according to the recently concluded Cooperation Agreement. This is confirmed at today’s meeting of the Director of the Agency Dejan Damnjanovic and Nebojsa Tomic, Director of the Central Registry of Compulsory Social Insurance.

ELECTION OF A NEW DIRECTOR OF THE AGENCY FOR PREVENTION OF CORRUPTION

01.03.2023.

The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia elected a new Director of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption, Mr. Dejan Damnjanovic, a graduate lawyer from Belgrade. Mr. Damnjanovic was elected by a majority of votes of all deputies (145 votes), from the list of candidates that the Ministry of Justice submitted to the National Assembly. For the first time, from the commencement of the application of the Law on Prevention of Corruption, the Director was elected through a public competition procedure conducted by the Judicial Academy.

STUDY VISIT TO LITHUANIA

30.01.2023.

Representatives of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption visited Lithuania, within the Project “Facility Supporting Strengthening Rule of Law in the Republic of Serbia“ (EU for Fight Against Corruption and for Fundamental Rights). The study visit was focused on gaining additional knowledge on corruption prevention mechanisms in Lithuania, as well as experience exchange with similar institutions in this area. The meetings were held with the representatives of the Special Investigation Service, the Chief Official Ethics Commission, and the Ministry of Interior.

MARKING OF THE INTERNATIONAL ANTI-CORRUPTION DAY

08.12.2022.

The Agency for Prevention of Corruption marks the International Anti-Corruption Day with the support of the OSCE Mission to Serbia at the International Conference Corruption Risk Assessment. Corruption risk assessment represents a systemic tool used to identify areas sensitive to corruption and development of effective strategies to manage those risks. The objective of effective corruption risk management is the protection of public interest,  rule of law, protection of human rights, timely provision of adequate services to citizens, legal and efficient management of public resources. In other words, everything that is violated by corruption stressed the director of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption, Mr. Dragan Sikimić.
