ELECTION OF A NEW DIRECTOR OF THE AGENCY FOR PREVENTION OF CORRUPTION

01.03.2023.

The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia elected a new Director of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption, Mr. Dejan Damnjanovic, a graduate lawyer from Belgrade. Mr. Damnjanovic was elected by a majority of votes of all deputies (145 votes), from the list of candidates that the Ministry of Justice submitted to the National Assembly. For the first time, from the commencement of the application of the Law on Prevention of Corruption, the Director was elected through a public competition procedure conducted by the Judicial Academy.

STUDY VISIT TO LITHUANIA

30.01.2023.

Representatives of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption visited Lithuania, within the Project “Facility Supporting Strengthening Rule of Law in the Republic of Serbia“ (EU for Fight Against Corruption and for Fundamental Rights). The study visit was focused on gaining additional knowledge on corruption prevention mechanisms in Lithuania, as well as experience exchange with similar institutions in this area. The meetings were held with the representatives of the Special Investigation Service, the Chief Official Ethics Commission, and the Ministry of Interior.

MARKING OF THE INTERNATIONAL ANTI-CORRUPTION DAY

08.12.2022.

The Agency for Prevention of Corruption marks the International Anti-Corruption Day with the support of the OSCE Mission to Serbia at the International Conference Corruption Risk Assessment. Corruption risk assessment represents a systemic tool used to identify areas sensitive to corruption and development of effective strategies to manage those risks. The objective of effective corruption risk management is the protection of public interest,  rule of law, protection of human rights, timely provision of adequate services to citizens, legal and efficient management of public resources. In other words, everything that is violated by corruption stressed the director of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption, Mr. Dragan Sikimić.

MEETINGS WITH THE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE SPECIAL INVESTIGATION SERVICE OF LITHUANIA

Meetings with the representatives of the Special Investigation Service of Lithuania (STT), organized within the Project “Facility Supporting Strengthening Rule of Law in the Republic of Serbia“ (EU for Fight Against Corruption and for Fundamental Rights), continued in the period from 28TH November until 1st December 2022,  in the Agency for Prevention of Corruption. Representatives of the Sector for Media and Civil Society Cooperation, Sector for Legal Affairs, Sector for Prevention and Strengthening Integrity, Sector for Conflict of Interest and Lobbying Issues, and Sector for External Affairs and Strategic Development attended the meetings.

THE WORKSHOPS ON LOBBYING IN THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA

In cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, the Agency also organized two workshops for representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and its members, with the topic “Lobbying in the Republic of Serbia“. The first workshop was held on September 26th, 2022, in Belgrade whereas the second one was held on October 12th, 2022, in Nis.
