VISIT OF THE AMBASSADOR OF THE EU to the REGIONAL UNIT IN KRAGUJEVAC

Director Dejan Damnjanović received the ambassador of the European Union in Serbia, H.E. Emanuele Giaufret, Ambassador of Italy, Luca Gori, and Ambassador of Slovakia, Michal Pavúk,who, as part of their official visit to Kragujevac, were guests of the Regional Unit of the Agency. On that occasion, the director especially emphasized the importance of the recently opened offices in Kragujevac, Niš and Novi Sad, which provided the possibility of even stronger enforcement of APCs competences, but also more immediate approach and communication with public officials, citizens, civil society and local media.

Damnjanović thanked the EU for the donation of valuable IT equipment for storage, preservation and archiving of the Agencys documents, which was provided as part of the "EU to support the rule of law" project. In his address, Damnjanović emphasized that "the value of the equipment is reflected in the establishment of better system stability and availability of data and services, which makes the EU support an immeasurable contribution to the work of the Agency". By obtaining modern data handling equipment, an even higher level of reliability of the Agencys work is achieved. Finally, the infrastructure component of the project covers the storage and database system needs for the next seven years.

Additionally, the delivery of the donation in the amount of 12,085,173.61 dinars is foreseen by the Agreement on the donation of IT equipment, which was concluded between the Agency and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), in charge of the implementation of this project.

Commenting on the visit to the Agency, Ambassador Giaufret praised the opening of the regional unit of the Agency for prevention of corruption, and noted that “By being close to the people, corruption prevention agencies can better understand the specific problems, allowing for more targeted and effective interventions addressing corruption at the local level. This is crucial for fostering trust in government institutions but also for supporting local social and economic development”.

In the continuation of the meeting, the director of the Agency with the delegation that included the ambassador H.E. E. Giaufret, Ambassador of Italy, Luca Gori, and Ambassador of Slovakia, Michal Pavúk, Minister of Information and Telecommunications Mihailo Jovanović, Mayor of Kragujevac Nikola Dašić and Director of IT & eGOV office Mr. Milan Latinović, visited the DATA CENTER, which will house one unit for storing and saving essential data at the disposal of the Agency (reserve server), which has an obligation to take care of them responsibly.
