The Director of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption Mr. Dejan Damnjanovic met with the Head of the Delegation and the Ambassador of the European Union to Serbia, H.E Emanuel Giaufret.
On this occasion, they discussed results in the work of the Agency, as well as challenges and impediments faced by the Agency in daily work. Special attention was addressed to the changes to the Law on Prevention of Corruption, and the role of the Agency in the process of developing the National Anti-corruption Strategy and the Action Plan for 2023-2024. and monitoring the implementation of strategic documents in the corruption area.
Activities planned for the upcoming period aimed at further compliance of the Republic of Serbia with the Council of Europe Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) recommendations in the Fifth Evaluation Round related to the competencies of the Agency, were also topics of discussion at the meeting of the Director Mr. Damnajnović and the Head of the Delegation H.E. Giaufret.
H.E. Giaufret underlined that effective prevention and fight against corruption is a priority for the EU and a key aspect of Serbian negotiations to become a member of the EU and in that respect he expressed the determination of the Delegation to support the Agency in the necessary areas. It was agreed that it is necessary to continue with the reform process in the rule of law, fight against corruption, and organized crime field in the process of negotiations on Serbia's accession to the EU.
