THE HIGHER PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE IN BELGRADE AND THE AGENCY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CORRUPTION - IMPROVING COOPERATION

Enhancement of cooperation in procedures of detection and prosecution of criminal offenses with elements of corruption was the reason for today's conversation between the Chief Public Prosecutor of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, Nenad Stefanović, and the Director of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption, Dejan Damnjanović.
Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor for Suppression Corruption, Brankica Marić also attended this meeting at the premises of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade in which a special emphasis was placed on procedures related to the verification of assets and income of public officials, conflict of interest, as well as control of the financing of political activities. These procedures are the area of significant cooperation between the two institutions.
Modalities of proactive cooperation and data exchange were also discussed with the aim of more efficient acting of both institutions.
The Director of the Agency and the Chief Public Prosecutor agreed that the role of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade is crucial in the domain of criminal prosecution in cases of high corruption, while the role of the Agency is crucial in the process of discovering and initiating this type of criminal offense before the competent prosecutor's offices.
In addition, the importance of the cooperation of all state authorities within the work of "Strike groups" with the aim of efficient and quick prosecution of the perpetrators of corrupt crimes was also pointed out, on this occasion.
