MEMORANDUM ON COOPERATION SIGNED BETWEEN THE AGENCY FOR PREVENTION OF CORRUPTION AND THE LAW FACULTY OF BELGRADE UNIVERSITY

Considering the competencies of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption defined by the Law on Prevention of Corruption, Law on Financing of Political Activities, and Law on Lobbying, and at the same time taking into account the social importance of the Law Faculty of Belgrade University, a Memorandum on cooperation was signed today between two institutions.

Signatories of the Memorandum, Director of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption Mr. Dejan Damnjanovic and Dean of the Law Faculty Professor Dr. Zoran Mirkovic in this way formalized the exchange of teachers from the Agency and the Faculty in the areas of mutual interest as well as the possibility of introducing the short study program and specialized studies in the prevention of corruption area.

On that occasion, the Director of the Agency Mr. Damnjanovic said that the implementation of this idea was initiated from the need for improvement of the existing cooperation, having in mind that corruption is a threat to the rule of law, democracy, and human rights.

"This cooperation will give the opportunity to young people to actively involve in the fight against corruption, and at the same time, will enable the reliable way of creating well-educated human resources with the specific knowledge necessary for employment in the Agency and other public authorities involved in the fight against corruption“ emphasized Mr. Damnjanovic.

Dean of the Law Faculty Professor Dr. Zoran Mirkovic underlined the necessity of involving the university community in activities on strengthening awareness of the harmfulness of corruption.

"The expert’s practice is primarily intended for the students in the final years of studies and students of the master studies and will take place according to the Law on High Education, and it will be realized through the group one-day visits where students will get acquainted with the work and functioning of the organizational units of the Agency, and later through work with the employees of the Agency, as well as enabling the use of anonymized decisions of the Agency for the preparation of master's dissertation and doctor's dissertation.“
