Agency Director Dejan Damnjanović and the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Snežana Paunović, met today to discuss current and future cooperation between the Ministry and the Agency, as well as the continuation of necessary joint activities aimed at implementing public administration reform.
Given the scope of work and competences of both institutions, one of the key topics discussed was the coordinated preparation of the Ministry and the Agency for participation in the Sixth GRECO Evaluation Round, which began this year.
It was agreed that the Director of the Agency, in his capacity as Head of the Delegation of the Republic of Serbia to GRECO, will continue to regularly inform the Minister about all issues related to the prevention of corruption and the promotion of integrity at the local and regional levels, which are of importance for the upcoming joint activities in this evaluation round.
Special attention was also given to the project "Introducing the Ethics and Integrity Officer in the Public Administration of the Republic of Serbia", which is part of the current Strategy for Public Administration Reform in the Republic of Serbia for the period 2021–2030.
On this occasion, Minister Paunović emphasized that the cooperation between the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government and the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption is crucial for improving transparency, accountability, and integrity in public administration. She particularly stressed that proactive action in the field of corruption prevention and the consistent application of ethical standards are prerequisites for building an efficient, inclusive, and citizen-oriented administration.
The Minister also stated that the Ministry will continue to provide full support to all initiatives that contribute to the achievement of reform goals, particularly those aimed at strengthening the integrity system at the local level and enhancing the capacity of officials who will serve as ethics and integrity officers.
In conclusion, Minister Paunović informed Director Damnjanović that on May 27, 2025, she will participate in an online training session organized by the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, with the support of the General Secretariat of the Government of the Republic of Serbia. The training is being conducted in accordance with GRECO recommendations and covers key topics in the areas of integrity and anti-corruption.
