The Agency, in cooperation with the State Audit Institution, held a working meeting with representatives of the UAE Accountability Authority (UAEAA). The meeting aimed to exchange experiences and good practices in the field of corruption prevention, as well as to strengthen international cooperation in combating corruption in the public sector.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Secretary of the Agency introduced the participants to the competencies and main areas of work of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption of the Republic of Serbia. She also highlighted the Agency’s institutional efforts in corruption prevention, focused on strengthening the integrity of public servants, raising awareness and education, digitalizing processes, and developing a new unified information system. The importance of international cooperation as a key prerequisite for an effective fight against corruption and for building strong institutions was also emphasized.
During the meeting, representatives of the Accountability Authority of the United Arab Emirates presented the dual mandate of their institution, which includes the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Sector and the Audit Sector. They outlined the mechanisms that help them detect and prevent corruption, improve the integrity of public institutions, and support their work through modern digital tools and platforms.
Representatives of the Agency presented Serbia’s system for declaring and verifying assets and income, integrity plans, and the obligations of public institutions to develop periodic plans for monitoring risks and designing preventive anti-corruption measures. They also explained the whistleblower protection mechanism and the responsibilities of public officials in the field of public procurement.
The participants concluded that the meeting was extremely useful and represented a strong foundation for further cooperation between the two institutions. It was agreed to continue the exchange of knowledge and experience, particularly in the areas of digitalization, improving preventive mechanisms, developing modern IT tools, and applying artificial intelligence to more effectively combat corruption.
