MEETING BETWEEN THE DIRECTOR OF THE AGENCY FOR PREVENTION OF CORRUPTION AND THE ACTING HEAD OF THE OSCE MISSION TO SERBIA

The Director of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption, Dejan Damnjanović, met with Carolina Hidea, the Acting Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, to discuss past achievements and future cooperation in the fight against corruption. The meeting marked another step in the long-standing collaboration focused on promoting good governance, strengthening institutional integrity, and supporting corruption-prevention efforts across Serbia.

Director Damnjanović expressed his appreciation for the Mission’s ongoing support, particularly its leadership in advancing good governance and institutional integrity. He highlighted that the meeting provided an opportunity to review the results of over 15 years of cooperation and to explore new initiatives aimed at further strengthening anti-corruption efforts in Serbia.

Ms. Hidea thanked Damnjanović for the invitation and congratulated him on the Agency’s 15-year anniversary. She underlined the Mission’s long-standing co-operation with the Agency and expressed the readiness to continue supporting its work in the future. Hidea highlighted the Mission’s strong commitment to key priorities, particularly youth education in the field of anti-corruption, and emphasized that this remains high on the Mission’s agenda.

One of the key topics discussed was the upcoming International Anti-Corruption Day, which the Agency will once again organize this year with the support of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, and this expert-level event will bring together specialists from Serbia and the region to raise awareness and foster dialogue on improving the effectiveness of anti-corruption measures.

Damnjanović also briefed Hidea on the Agency’s current activities and strategic priorities, with particular emphasis on implementing the recommendations of GRECO’s Fifth Evaluation Round and ODIHR recommendations, as well as the Agency’s role in monitoring the implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy and its accompanying Action Plan.

In addition, the Agency will focus on enhancing anti-corruption efforts at the local government level and preparing for GRECO’s Sixth Evaluation Round. Special attention will also be given to educating young people and raising their awareness about anti-corruption issues.

During the meeting, both interlocutors emphasized the importance of continued co-operation and agreed on next steps to ensure the successful implementation of the Agency’s strategic priorities and to achieve better results in corruption prevention, with the continued support of the OSCE Mission to Serbia.
