As part of their regular visit to the Republic of Serbia and its state institutions, representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) visited the Agency for Prevention of Corruption. The IMF delegation, consisting of Mr. Andre Geis and Laurent Kemoe, IMF economists based in Washington responsible for Serbia, and Marko Paunović, an economist at the IMF Office in Belgrade, held a meeting with Nataša Božić, Secretary of the Agency; Marija Baltić, Acting Assistant Director in the Sector for International Cooperation and Strategic Documents; and Dušan Jeličić, Assistant Director in the Sector for the Oversight of Political Activities.
The meeting covered key aspects of Serbia’s anti-corruption system, with a particular focus on the role and responsibilities of the Agency, as well as the importance of coordination and cooperation among institutions responsible for combating corruption. Discussions also addressed major priorities and challenges in future work.
The role of the Agency in monitoring the implementation of the Anti-Corruption Strategy and its accompanying Action Plan was discussed, including progress made and challenges encountered in their application.
Special attention was given to progress in implementing anti-corruption measures in the context of European Union accession negotiations and GRECO recommendations, with the goal of strengthening transparency, accountability, and the effective implementation of integrity standards.
