MEETING BETWEEN THE AGENCY DIRECTOR AND THE PRIME MINISTER OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr. Djuro Macut, visited the Agency for Prevention of Corruption today and met with the Director of the Agency, Dejan Damnjanović. They discussed activities related to the prevention and fight against corruption, as well as ways to further improve the legislative framework and the work of the Agency.

The discussion focused on the Agency’s responsibilities and methods of operation, with particular emphasis on fulfilling the recommendations of the Group of States against Corruption of the Council of Europe (GRECO) in the Fifth Evaluation Round. Prime Minister Macut highlighted the importance of implementing activities foreseen in the EU integration process and the adopted Growth Plan for the Western Balkans.

Director Damnjanović provided the Prime Minister with detailed information on the regulations under the Agency’s jurisdiction, including the timeline for implementing mandatory online training for senior executive officials on integrity standards, in line with the GRECO evaluation report.

They also discussed planned activities for the coming period, particularly in relation to monitoring the implementation of the 2024–2025 Action Plan for the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (2024–2028).

The Prime Minister underscored the importance of fighting corruption and the Agency’s key preventive role. He reiterated that one of the priorities of the Government of the Republic of Serbia is the prevention and suppression of corruption, strengthening the rule of law, enhancing legal certainty, and increasing citizens’ trust in public institutions.
